Michelle Mao has been a member of the Screen Actors Guild since 2019 and has appeared in numerous film and television series. Michelle Mao played the character Lisa Randall in the Netflix movie Metal Lords, shot in Portland, Oregon, in 2020 and 2021. Also starring Noah Urrea, Joe Manganiello, and Jaeden Martell, Metal Lords is reminiscent of classic 80s movies, following a group of high school students who form a heavy metal band.

In 2021 Ms. Mao accepted her first comedy role as Amy Lee in Surfside Girls, a TV series adapted from the comic book of the same name. The Apple TV series will be released later in 2022. Previously, Ms. Mao appeared in Patsy Lee and the Keepers of the 5 Kingdoms, which featured James Hong as Chuck Lee, and lent her vocals to the 2017 BEAUZ song Never Over.

In addition to working on Los Angeles-based film and television projects, Michelle Mao hopes to focus on theatrical productions on Broadway. Inspired to collaborate with peers, she is currently working on projects to produce her own content. Outside of acting, she enjoys cooking at home, particularly spicy Szechuan cuisine, and watching movies.
